Minimum
Configuration to access CRA/ NPS-Lite system
The users would be able to access the system through
Internet Browser. Users are authenticated based on Password or Digital
Signature Certificate (DSC).
To
access the system, a user is expected to have standard desktop machine with the
following minimum
configuration.

Instructions to install Java Runtime Environment
The site uses applets for uploading files to
CRA/NPS-Lite systems. Also the FPU and FVU are java based utilities. Thus Java
Runtime Environment (JRE 5+) should be installed on the machine from where the
CRA/ NPS-Lite sites are accessed and the FPU and FVU utilities are installed.
Java is freely downloadable from http://java.sun.com
and http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk.

Instructions
to configure browser settings
1. SSL Encryption
CRA Web Application uses 128-bit
encryption, the highest level of encryption publicly available, for increased
security to ensure high protection against unauthorized access to the data you
exchange across the Internet. General instructions for checking your browser for 128-bit encryption are as follows:
Internet Explorer
for Windows:
a. Select "Help" from the browser
menu.
b. Click "About Internet Explorer"
from the help menu.
c. In the "About Internet Explorer"
pop up window look for "Cipher Strength" information. Check if it
says 128 - bit.
d. If the "Cipher Strength" does
not display 128 - bit, click on "Update Information" link and
download 128 - bit encryption pack as per your requirement.
2.
Security Level
Security level of
browser should be set to “Medium-High(Default)”. General instructions to set
the level are as follows:
Internet Explorer for Windows:
a. Click "Tools" in the menu bar
b. Select “Internet Options” and click on
“Internet” tab
c. For the Internet zone, click "Custom
Level" and be sure that the custom settings are set to
“Medium-high(default)”.
3.
Must have SSL3.0 or TLS1.0 enabled
The site requires SSL3.0 or TLS enabled browsers. General instructions for enabling SSL3.0 or TLS are as follows:
Internet Explorer for Windows:
a. Click "Tools" in the menu bar
b. Select “Internet Options” then click the
“Advanced” tab
c. Scroll down to “Security”
d. Here Enable Use SSL 3.0 & Use TLS 1.0
4.
Must have Java enabled
The site requires Java-enabled browser. General instructions for enabling Java are as follows:
Internet Explorer for Windows:
a. Click "Tools" in the menu bar
b. Select “Internet Options” then click the
“Advanced” tab
c. Scroll down to “Java”
d. Here Enable Use Java v 1.5
e. Then click on “Security” tab
f. For the Internet zone, click "Custom
Level" and be sure that under the Scripting heading, "Scripting of
Java Applets" is set to "Enable" or "Prompt."
5.
Must have Javascript enabled
The site requires Javascript. General instructions for enabling Javascript are as follows:
Internet Explorer for Windows:
a. Click "Tools" in the menu bar
b. Select "Internet Options," then
click the "Security" tab.
c. For the Internet zone, click "Custom
Level" and be sure that under “Scripting” heading, following 2 options are
either set to “Enable” or “Prompt”.

6.
Must have style sheets enabled
The site uses style sheets to control the display of the web pages. General instructions for enabling style sheets are as follows:
Internet Explorer for Windows:
a. Click "Tools" in the menu bar
b. Select "Internet Options,".
c. Select the "General" tab and
click "Accessibility."
d. Uncheck the boxes "Ignore color
specified on web pages," "Ignore font style specified on web
pages," "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages." And “Format documents using my style sheet”
7.
Must have script-initiated windows enabled
The site uses script-initiated windows for displaying the detailed information about the instruction. General instructions for enabling script-initiated windows are as follows:
a. Click "Tools" in the menu bar
b. Select "Internet Options," then
click the "Security" tab.
c. For the Internet zone, click "Custom
Level"
d. Under “Miscellaneous” heading, be sure
that the “Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints”
option is set to “Enable”.
